Description:

RARE. We believe this to be an early 20th century art glass egg casket. It was hand blown to fit securely in the brass holder even at the base. Plaster has been applied to secure the egg to the base. The holder securely fits to the edges of the egg and has three legs with finely ornate hoofs and a mythical creature holding the sides of the egg. The egg is hinged in the center to allow the egg to open. There is a small latch that closes the egg securely. The glass itself is stunningly beautiful art glass is purple and green with an iridescent shine in places. See pictures for color detail. No signature was found. Egg with base 5 1/2"H and is 3" in diameter. Our client is in her eighties and the egg belonged to her mother which lends some indication of the age of the egg. Looks like Galle' but unsure. There are a few nicks on the inside bottom of egg but dont take away form the appearance. Not sure if factory or later nicked.
