Description:
RARE. This possible victorian age egg casket is the housing for a perfume. The applied gold leaf design to the cranberry colored 1/8" thick art glass egg is mystic as you open it a gold leaf perfume sits inside the egg. The perfume lifts out to open the top and use the small glass dobber to apply the fragrance. The housing for perfume is a velvet cloth applied in the egg. The top of the egg has an inserted flower on leaf that is set through a small hole in the top of the egg. The base is a four footed flower embellised gold tone metal setting within which the egg is set securely. We did not attempt to remove the egg from the base. This egg is a one of a kind! Size is 6 1/4"H from the base of the stand to the top of the egg. The egg itself is 4 3/4"L x 2 7/8" in diameter. Origin and maker of egg are unknown. Looks Tiffany but unsure.
